I have a Wacom Pen Tablet (model: CTH-480) and have plugged it into my windows 7 dell laptop. It first downloaded a couple things but after that I cannot find anything about the tablet! The only play I found anything about it was in System Information and it said "Description:Wacom Serial Pen HID driver Started:No. Start Mode: manual. State: stopped status: ok. Error Control: normal." But I cannot change anything about the tablet from there.
So my question is, how do I change the status?
Thank you! ~kgf:o

Hi Kgf,
Welcome to SevenForums!

1st First of all you should check in Windows features whether Tablet PC Component is enabled.
If it is already enabled, go for 2nd or 3rd.
If it is not enabled already, Enable it, Restart & Check whether it starts working!
Windows Features - Turn On or Off

2nd. It seems there may be some problems with the Driver Setup procedure. You got drivers from Windows Update & in the process some corruption is there.
WACOM mentions the proper setup process where it even says to download & install drivers directly from their website instead of Windows Updates Or other internet sources. You should Uninstall & Remove components installed automatically in the setup process of the Tablet & then you should go as per their procedure.
Can you do that ? Can you proceed with that ? How good you are with Device Manager & other things ? Would you like me to help in the process ?

WACOM Link : Wacom Intuos : How to setup and get started | Wacom
( The link page has a CHAT window option as well. That is in the middle of the screen at the left side)

Other Help from WACOM : They don't provide Remote Control Support but they give chat & other customer supports. It seems they have good tutorials.

3rd. As per your information, It seems everything is ok but the Start Mode: manual is the problem. Actually it is not a problem, but you have to manually start it after every pc restart to use it or you should make it automatic. But it involves checking other things before hand.

So, You should check 1st & then go for 2nd Or 3rd.

In my opinion, after checking 1st, you should go for 3rd

Let me know how i can help you!

Thanks & Regards. ...

Thank you very much for your reply! It was very helpful. I am not good with computers but am willing to learn new things!
I completed step #1 and Tablet PC Component was enabled.
I would like to do step #3 but, due to my lack of computer knowledge, I do not know where to manually start (or change to automatic start) the tablet. What do I need to check beforehand and how do I manually start it?
Thanks again! ~kgf

Hi Kgf,
Glad to see your spirits!

1. Very well said by sir samuria : In the process of setup, one need to start with the drivers & programs first, follow the online instructions & only attach the device when it is asked. This way you can avoid many problems. But you started with the device plugged in first of all : a whole different thing & even well said an opposite!

2. Before making any changes to the present status/condition of the driver/service, I would like to look into all its dependencies.
For eg. If we wish to turn it automatic, we will first need to put all its dependencies on auto & their dependencies & so on. So, It makes a full tree of dependencies & we have to start from the root. So, follow the instructions & give me those details.

( I will use this app to gather the information in few clicks : ServiWin: Windows Services/Drivers Tool (start/stop/restart service) )

We will create 2 html files which will describe the properties about your pc Drivers & Services.

So,
What you have to do is :

(i) Check whether your OS is 64 or 32 bit : System Type - 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64)

(ii) Make Download according to your OS :
For 32 bit : View attachment serviwin32.zip
For 64 bit : View attachment serviwin-x64.zip

(iii) Extract the zip to a folder.

(iv) Open the extracted folder & execute Drivers.cmd & Services.cmd one by one. They will create Services & Drivers html

(v) Share the files with me.

3. Before doing anything else, we will use one of win 7 in-built troubleshooters which automatically checks & solves device configuration problems.
So, What you have to do is :

(i) Keep your Tablet connected.
(ii) Keep connected to internet.
(iii) The Tutorial : Windows Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

(iv)follow the tutorial & get to the Troubleshoot Computer Problems section.

Troubleshoot problems.jpg

(v) Make sure that you first check the box marked with Green Oval. This will automatically give you access to latest online troubleshooter.

(vi) Now click & execute Configure a Device troubleshooter under Hardware & Sound section.
Take care that you note down all the report it gives in various steps. That may be useful.

(vii ) Once done check the issue status.

Any queries, doubts ? Anything else ?

Let me know.

Thanks & Regards. ...
