Connected but says limited access

I recently just got a laptop for college.Today I tried to connect to the internet and it's connected but its says Limited access. I have been looking online to fix this problem and they say to go online. But when I open a browser I can't connect. I was wondering how I fix this? I have a cable that connects to my router. But it's still saying limited access to any internet connection that I can use (ex. wireless, cable). But I don't know how to fix it. It says that it's connected but it's unable to identify the problem. If anyone could help it would be great!

"Limited access" means that your system is connected to the router, but the router is not getting connected to the internet. So the problem is with your cable connection and/or cable provider, not with your system or router. Contact your cable provider to correct the problem.

I had that problem once. It turned out to be a problem with Mcafee. I had to call them to get it fixed. Perhaps it's your anti-virus. Also you can try to reset your router.

It is probably because you're not getting an IP address. Check to see if your router is setup for DHCP. If so, try setting a static IP and see if you're having the same problems.

Is your router configured for WEP, WAP or WAP2/PSK with a password, and you have not given the right password?

Limited Access will happen in such conditions. It looks like you are connected to the router but you will not have internet access.

Are you able to connect to this router with other computers and get internet access through wireless?

Is it happening with a wired connection to router also?

On command prompt type "ipconfig /all" and paste the results in your post. This way we can see whether you are getting an IP address, DNS server and gateway or not. Do this for both wired connection and wireless.
