Solved Connection & IP Config probelem?

This is driving me mad and has been for 3 days now so anyone please help:cry:. In Newbie`s terms please as I am a bit deaf, blind, dementiated and old apart from that I feel fine.:zip:

Toshiba L450D-13P. Laptop pn: PSLY5E Serial 3A556749K

1. Would not connect with wired or wireless setup.
2. Router is ok as 2 main pcs wired ok and one laptop wireless ok
3. Tried without antivirus. Did not connect.
4. Did a Ping to 127.0.0.1 , all seems ok
5. It stated adapter was down at one stage.
6. Rebooted router several times.
7. Took out security key from router and tried without key.
8. Tried WEP,WPA,WPA2
9. Tried all IPV6 disabled.
10. Tried updating drivers.
11. Uninstalled drivers and re-installed.
12. Drivers claimed to be working properly.
13. In Network Map it says adapter is not connected.
14. Says is a public network and I can`t change to Home or Work.
15. Can`t identify router whilst wired connection.
16. Wireless sees the router full strength, but will not connect even with correct key.
17. Turned on and off wireless on the laptop.
18. Windows 7 troubleshooter says reboot router?
19. Troubleshooter once said “Local Area connection has no valid ip config.”
20. Tried to setup new connection.
21. Was installed with my windows Ultimate 7 64bit when failed.
22. Reinstalled three times with Toshiba recovery disk Home Premium 7 32bit. Checked all the services are running that need be.

Ok, looking at your ipconfig /all I noticed that you are showing 0.0.0.0 for your default gateway rather than 192.168.x.x like it should be. Your IPv4 address is showing the default gateway which isn't right and the DNS is getting it's address from the router.

This usually means that your router requires a firmware update in order for you to pick up the default gateway from the router which will allow your router to use DCHP and give you a proper IPv4 address. You should either find the latest firmware for your router or you can try typing in the default gateway manually.

The link below shows you how to do this although the best way to fix this problem is to install the latest firmware for your router.

Hi again,
Situation resolved as suggested did a firmware upgrade and also rest my cable modem and router. Redesigned the setup of the network and now I have evrything talking to everything with only one little glitch and that is about to be fixed.
Many thanks to you for you help. I nearly said it gave me a few more grey hairs but I have no hair so bah!

Glad to hear your problem is resolved YeOldeCodger, I have enough of those grey hairs also so figured you might want to know about the easy way to solve this. Also thanks for posting your ipconfig and all other information which makes these problems so much easier to solve. ;)
