Hello,

I have a problem. Few month ago I restarted computer and after finishing to load Windows my screen came black. I went into safe mode and I saw that my consumer IR device is not working. I reinstalled that driver and nothing. Reinstalled windows and still nothing. The moment I disabled my graphic card driver everything was OK. I could start Windows in normal mode and there was no problem with my consumer IR device. If I enable graphic card driver the screen comes black again and again consumer IR device doesn't work. I though my graphic card is broken so I was keeping it disabled. Another day I tried to enable my graphic card driver and after restarting my windows everything was working. Both consumer IR device and the graphic card.

Yesterday after restarting my computer I got the same problem. I tried to reinstall drivers and Windows but it didn't help. Every time I enable my graphic card the screen in normal mode comes black. I suspect it is something wrong with my hardware and not with a software. Please help me detect where is the problem.

I have a ACER Aspire 5920G laptop
Graphic card NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS
Intel Core 2 Duo processor (2GHz)
3GB DDR2 RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate x32

Thanks pebbly but this doesn't help. I reinstalled both drivers and it was still the same. I reinstalled my Windows, installed all the drivers from Acer webpage and the problem is still there. It looks like the problem is not with a driver.

Is the driver from Nvidia or Acer? :)

It is from ACER. It is version 8.15.11.8664 (date 8/6/2009). Now I am downloading from NVIDIA webpage. It has new version 260.99 released on 2010/10/25 . I will let you know if this helps as soon as possible.

slatkus ,Where ever possible always use the laptop manufacturers drivers for graphic cards they are device specific , but in your case I would go along with using the Nvidia drivers :)

Well with a new driver my graphic card works in normal mode but it is not full screen. In the right of my screen there is black area and I can't go on it with my mouse cursor. I tried to change resolution and it got really crazy. I could see nothing but all kind of different color vertical lines. Any suggestion? :)

sounds very much like a failing graphic card , this would also have a knock on effect to other related hardware as in causing problems , have a look in the bios and see if you have the opportunity to enable the onboard graphics, the CPU should then be able to take over the graphical processing power until you are able to get a new card sorted out :(

I really don't know where the problem is. As I said it happen once before. I was trying everything but nothings helped. When 1 day decided to try to enable my graphic card, restarted computer and it worked. It got fixed by itself? How to explain this? If the graphic card would have some problem it would be there all the time. This is the biggest puzzle for me and I want to try to solve it.

hi there, did you ever find a solution? I am having the EXACT same problem. I thought maybe I had a virus but I've been scanning like crazy and nothing is coming up. I'm wondering if I need to get a new card? The error message I get from the AERO program says to contact the manufacturer, but I don't understand how the card would work perfectly one day and then with no changes be broken the next. Did you find a software or driver solution that worked for you?
