Solved Cooling DSL modem

Have you ever felt you DSL modem after a afternoon of webbing.

What I have done to solve this condition.
Parts used.
*One Corsair ram cooler with two 5mm fans.
*One a/c adapter from wall outlet to 9 volts.
*A little price of Velcro

Remove the fans from the bracket
Wired the voltage adapter to the fans and plugged the adapter into the surge protector.
Installed fan 1 on the vent on top of the modem with Velcro.
Installed fan 2 on the vent on top of the router.
Major difference in temps to the touch.

Now one might ask; why would I do that?
Everything in the computer works better if cooled why not cool the things outside your computer that you use ever day.
Electronics work better and longer when cooled.

Actually yes, I felt mine (Westell 6100) one summer day and both it and my Linksys router were very hot to the touch. My internet connection was freezing up every so often.

I raised each about 3/4" inch off the desktop with some scraps of plywood. Now even on the worst summer days, I no longer have any net freeze problems.

I always keep my modem slightly angled up for airflow. My router sits vertical on a stand

I put mine on little woodblocks. Works well. But I could also put it upright. Netgear provided a bracket for that.

My method gives you pretty little blue lights.
The modem is running 3C above ambient.

Sorry it's not worth dragging the camera out.
You will just have to trust me the fans are there and they do run blue.

My modem have vents on both sides and I have a fan beside me so I wouldn't worry about its temperatures

I did this one time with an old DSL modem: Cut a hole on the top large enough for an 80mm fan to fit across and hot-glue it downward so it blows air into it. Then cut a hole for a cable to run through and connect to the fan. Then I had a scrap USB cable and connected the fan to the cable, plugged it into the computer, and that's all she wrote.

Unfortunately, since my ISP upgraded the system that handles the Internet traffic, it's of no use. Plus, the RJ-22 jack (the side connecting to the phone line) broke on this DSL modem.

We have a fiber-optic line running to the house now.
