hi folks. im just about to install my corsair h50 but i have read loads of reviews. some say disable cool n quiet, some say not to. i can see why it would b better to disable it.
what do u folks think?

i plan on a push pull exsaust setup as my system temps r always low.
the antec two cool pulling through and out, the corsair fan pushing.

the antec two cool has a 2 speed switch on rear of my case. this will b the pull fan.
are there any other changes i should make in the bios?

any help and suggestions is much apreciated as always
cheers folks:thumbsup:

I don't run an amd based system so I have no idea about the cool n quiet thing...however I would suggest you run 2 identical fans for the rad...in my case I use 2x noctua fans that are designed for this application and run quiet..They have proven to be very effective. this model
Noctua NF-P12 120mm Fan [NF-P12-1300] - $26.00 : PC Case Gear

you can mod this watercooler also btw...
(Guide) H50 Replace Tubes and Res Mod. - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net guide for doing so if you wish..I used a XSPC bay res rather than the Swiftec one used in the guide.

cheers

ive read a review somewhere about moddin the h50 but not for me. thanks 4 the info tho. much apreciated nice lookin modd tho

edit; would i b better off running the fans off the psu so they run 100% ? or off the fan headers?

Hi Ganjiry,
you could if you want...I have done in the past but I currently have mine connected to the PSU. If you buy fans that are PWM compatable e.g GELID Silent 12 120mm PWM Fan [FN-PX12-15] - $12.00 : PC Case Gear you could run them from the fan header on your motherboard that your stock CPU fan would connect to.
I'm not sure if the Noctua fans are a PWM variant but I prefer too run them at 100% speed hence hooking them up to the PSU.

hi simmo. im gonna see how it runs stock for now till i get some pennies for more fans. ive got pretty good temps anyway idle 39-41.. load (ingame bfbc2) 52-55c. so may b ok is. we shall see

edit. i know that the rads fan goes on the cpu fan header. but ive read a couple of conflicting things online. when it comes to connectin the pump. its a 3pin connecter. but some say to run it off a 3pin header and some say to use the 4pin header. what do u think ? 3pin

Hi Ganjiri, I have my pump running off the 3pin header on the board even tho that header is a 4 pin. The connector from the pump is a 3pin anyway and it works ok...
Your temps look ok for mine...only reason I watercooled mine is I originally had the CPU pushing 4ghz but I now run it at 3.8 with HT enabled 24/7. It would run at 4 with HT but I found it got a lil hot for my liking so I wound it back some.
cheers
BTW the CPU fan header is a PWM one so it will vary your fan speed according to the temp your CPU is generating. I have disabled CPU temp monitoring on the board because it would not compete POST with the fans running on another header. The BIOS will not find the fans if you connect to anything else other than the CPU header and I had to hit the F1 key for it to complete POST and boot into Windows.

hi simmo thanks again for the quick reply and info.
okey dokey! as i thought. il connect the pump to either pwr fan header 3pin or sys1. am i right in thinkin that syst fan 2 is for the northbridge cooler and is pwm? syst fan 1 and pwr fan run at 100%?.....
thanks for ur info. its much apreciated.. im gonna crack on with it shortly once ive woken up proppa:thumbsup:

not long finished it.. temps r now lower than i thought they'd be. no need for a push pull setup.
i have it mounted so the fan is blowing through and out bk as my system temps r lower than my room temp. plus it seemed an odd way to do it as recomended. balls up air flow.
idle=30-33c
load=40-42
thats with my phenom at stock 3.4ghz. i have room temp wise to oc. only gonna aim for 3.6
well plz'd thanks again for the help:thumbsup:

Which ever you do, make sure your H50 pump is running 100% at all times and not being sped up or down like the System fan would. My H70 pump is ran off psu and the push/pull(2 different fan btw..120mm/140mm (see specs)) fans are ran by board so they speed up or slow with heat. If you do run pump off of board make sure to set in bios to run at 100%

+1 yes make sure that H50 is run at 100% and that the 3pin is 12v. i to run my pump off the psu just to be sure it is at 100% 12v. also to not overload the mobo ;/

Hi all , you can avoid overpowering the motherboard fan plug-ins by a separate board with 4 to 10 fan plugs with a pin out to the power supply molex connector 12volt line. frozen CPU has them. they call them power blocks.

I am running the h50 on my system an MSI P45 PLATINUM same layout as yours ganjiry and i have a 7fan system.
