Could I have assistance identifying my Product Key?

Hi guys,

I have done a clean install of my Dell Inspiron M5040 Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Laptop.

I have got everything back to normal, however I haven't been able to activate Windows. this is due to the OEM sticker fading.

I have tried Magi Bean (whatever it is called) and the keys aren't working.

I have attached a photo of the sticker so I am hoping someone with some software is able to help. I have blanked out the first two section as they are extremely clear so I don;t need them to be identified.

Hopefully I am not breaking any rules and I hope someone can help so I can finally get this boxed off.

Where the ? is characters I'm not sure of.

A keyfinder will only work if you've already done a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
because until then the OS is activated with a SLP batch key at factory.

What do others think? Have you tried a magnifying glass which has done the trick for me several times?

Sometimes dampening the COA sticker (damp, not soaking wet) brings out the letters so you can read them. A good, bright light and a magnifying glass can also help.

I think manufacturers should be required to record the install key on any COA sticker they apply to a computer for exactly this reason. They keep track of everything else, why not this.

How many of you have recorded the install key from your COA sticker somewhere for just this situation? Probably not many.

Best guess:

7THX followed by Q or G

WC60G or possibly WC6QG

69J3Q or possibly 69J3G

That's not too many permutations, so you should be able to stumble into it.

Trying to remember---do the stickers avoid 0 because it can be mistaken for O?

I don't remember ever seeing 0 (zero) or O for that matter. Never thought about it.
