Solved CPU temperature inaccurate?

I just woke up my computer from sleep mode and it said it was 15 degrees celcius (59 degrees farenheit) and the room temperature is 67 degrees farenheit. Also, the only settings I changed in core temp were to make it start with Widnwos and close to system tray. I also made it monitor the Cool 'N Quiet.

Any other suggestions? I am wondering if my bios just doesn't read the excact temps right. My system runs cool and when I put it under load and it heats up, the cpu fan increases speed.

How far away is your computer from that a/c vent you mentioned? The air coming from that vent would typically run 25+°F lower than ambient (standard freon a/c).

It is about 1-2 yards fromt the A/C vent. The thing is, it is showing theese low readings when the A/C hasn't been running. Right now, it is set on heat, anyway.

Exactly right the bios is reading slightly off. Have you checked to see if you have the latest bios update? Now if you don't this may or may not have anything to do with anything. Also you know your rig is working well now. You can flash your bios at you own risk and it again may of may not correct anything. MSI has a neat auto flash for the bios and it keeps me current but many others have to go though a process that ........well, makes me nervous.

I personally have no faith in Core Temp anymore. Your reading in BIOS should be correct, Core Temp reads and translates the Thermal Sensors embedded in your CPU cores, however, I think they have it wrong.

Coretemp reads the thermistor built into the CPU core, the bios reading is from the Motherboard socket thermistor.
More and more software programs are giving invalid readings as the OEM change the circuit functions on the i/o chip used to report these readings. Also consider with a OEM system overclocking isn't possible so as long as their techs have infrared temp readers they are not overly concerned about collecting temp readings, Dell many years ago eliminated sensors from their boards.

As to CoreTemp and your issue, I've seen a lot of AMD chips recently reporting incorrect temps not mention CPUs with unlocked cores not reporting any temps.

The issue isn't truly solved, I just came to a point where I realized it is probably HP's fault I can't get proper temperatures.
