Solved CPU Usage High at idle...Please Help..

I have read this thread but maybe missed this but you don't appear to have checked Task manager.
If you bring that up and go to the second tab, it has a column showing the %age use of CPU time for each running service\function. Looking down the list you can readily identify what is eating the cycles.

Thanks for the input cyclic, we used task manager, process hacker and process explorer which are more extensive versions of task manager, we evaluated every running process and application after which it was learnt that the system is infected with a Trojan: Win32.Sality and its variants. mmkarimi and layback bear resolved this issue, it took about 9 anti virus programs and a LOT of manual deletion to get the job done!

There are just too many of them, id rather you and Layback Bear recommend what AV you think is best based on your expert opinion and extensive experience.

Also, how many should i get? Since we cant completely rely on one, which ones offer the best active protection (real time guard), firewall and heuristics?

Thanks!

Dear Corp2212,
about the quantity i should say you must install just one antivirus in your system, they may conflict with each other.
about the best antivirus, each has its own trait, Price, every day updating, better user interface, and so many other standards.

Thanks for the recommendations and yes i will use only one after closely reviewing those links. Can i use Malware Bytes and 1 Antivirus together? Or would Malwarebytes conflict as well? Great Job MMKARIMI!
a good antivirus is enough by itself. they do perfectly guard your system of the threats. you don't want your computer to get slow or any conflict between software installed in your computer. i suggested usb disk security because most of the viruses transfer from usb drives, it makes a gate between your usb and your computer. it checks your usb for just auto run Trojans, if it detects any threat you must check your usb drive with a powerful antivirus and do not open the drive since your antivirus cleans the threat.
but there is always some setting in every antivirus to make it optimized in your computer

Just my 2 cents worth. If you installed/uninstalled any anti-virus programs (programs that incorporated real-time scanning, not programs the had on-demand scanning only) then it's quite possible a typical uninstall using control panel > programs and features > uninstall did not remove all traces of the program. Many AV companies provide specific uninstallers for their products. It might be a good idea to run the uninstallers for any programs you're not intending on keeping.
