Crashes on 64bit

BlueScreenView is very easy to use, but often inaccurate. ntoskrnl.exe is a critical system file, and highly unlikely to cause a crash.

I've been looking around for more information on M-Audio drivers and BSOD, Power State failures and found a link on this site to a program BlueScreenView. http://www.sevenforums.com/software/92-free-great-programs-windows-7-a.html
It says the Power State Failure is with the ntoskrnl.exe.

I went back and looked at all the dumps from the last couple of months and it's identifying the same issue.
Any thoughts on that? Anyone use that to know it's reliability

Well if the dmps are the same the proble is the same. Its probably not a win 7 OS file.

Thank you Jonathan and Ken for the feedback. Then I'll not use the BlueScreenView program. That leaves M-Audio I guess.

Do you have an Internet Security app installed, e.g., NIS, N360, KIS, McAfee, etc..? Anything with a 3rd party firewall?

Are your NIC and wifi drivers up to date?

jcgriff2,
Oh boy! was my NIC drivers out of date. Went from a Feb 2008 to a March 2010. Is that also going to pick up my WiFi. It's an on board device? Realtek
To the Internet Security Question I have NIS. Firewall enabled. What are your thoughts. The NIC or something else?

To others,

I submitted my issue on M-Audio Technical Support (Avid Tech Inc) and their response was the following
Regarding your issue, can you please try the suggestions posted in this FAQ link:

Knowledge Base

Now, I don't have Digidesign or Pro Tools and I'm not getting the DAW errors. I can see the trouble shooting benefit with disabling the NIC and all the other startup items to rule conflicts out.
But this disabling USB power management and DEP doesn't make sense. Before I respond back does anyone see benefit with some of the recommendations they have in that post.

Thanks,

Carl

Well I've had two more BSOD's since upgrading my NIC drivers. I'm attaching the dmps but I'll guess it's the same results.

I haven't made much progress with M-Audio. I responded back to them informing them that I don't have the hardware that the FAQ's seem to be indicating and the only thing they came back with was to turn off sleep mode on my computer. Since i get BSOD's often while I'm work on the computer I don't see how that would be helpful.

I think I might uninstall M-Audio and see if I still get BSOD's.

Any other thoughts please reply back

Thanks for confirming Jonathan_King. I uninstalled this morning. The uninstall program didn't remove the MAudioFastTrackUltra.sys (I had noticed that earlier as well). So I deleted it from the system32 directory then rebooted.
I'll post back with news either way.

Day 6 since removal of MAudio and I have not had a crash. If it's still that way next weekend I'll have to try some experimentation. I've engaged M-Audio tech support as well.

11 days since uninstall and no BSOD.
Working with MAudio tech support the following recommendation puzzled me. I'm wondering if this group has comments on it.
With regards to the IRQ list, I have seen three USB Host Controllers sharing the same IRQ with your PCIe, PCI and Firewire port. What I can suggest you to these three shared IRQs is to disable those and then try the other ports to plug in the Fast Track Ultra once you have reinstalled the drivers
My response "If I don’t have any issues with these IRQ’s when Fast Track Ultra is un-installed, why would I have issues when I install it? Are you requiring this for the device to run?"

Here are my IRQ's if anyone is interested or can enlighten me to IRQ assignment and why they would go down that path.
