create recovery tool on 1gb usb drive?

hello. I have a 1gb usb drive that I want to install gparted and other tools that can be used to recover Windows7 (and XP) from unbootable problems. so far i have gparted on my list, but what I want to do is install DamnSmallLinux (100mb) as the base OS and install all other linux based windows tools that will fit on this drive on this drive.

is this possible?

1. I'd like to have a drive that can recover my current installation without losing data, or be able to recover data.
2. I already have installation media
3. It's a 1gb flash drive Win7 installer is over 2gb. something tells me this may not work.


Ideally I just want the drive to have dsl, with gparted, and antivirus program, and a registry fixer, and whatever else is needed.

sorry. unetbootin will automatically download and install dsl so installing linux is not the problem.


my question is: what packages should I put in dsl?

Knoppix is linux and comes with tools for data recovery. I will fit on a 1 GB drive. You may want to at least check out the site and see what utilities it comes with.
