I have a friend who has just purchased a Creative HS-420 headset to use with his Toshiba Satellite Laptop (running Windows 7 Home Premium). The headset cables are plugged into the correct headphone/mic sockets at the front left side of the laptop, and the headphones work fine but the microphone does not work. When I list recording devices in Windows it shows a Conexant device. The recording level on this device flickers very briefly when I plug in the headset, but does not respond when I speak into the mic.
When I plug in a different, standalone microphone it works fine - it's just the mic on the Creative headset that doesn't work.
Does anyone know if this headset requires a separate driver for the microphone? (I can't seem to locate any drivers for it on the Creative website).
