Crossfire Disabled: Need help!

Ok. Windows is detecting both cards (XFX 4870 going by GPU-Z).

To confirm that the 2nd card is indeed running at only x1 speed (and not just a GPU-Z reporting glitch) - remove the top card and run off the 2nd card only that should be running @ x4.

If GPU-Z still reports the card running @ x1 - then it it looks like you will have to adjust some jumpers on your motherboard to acheive the x16 /x4 config:

If I may add, you may need to set your bios as PEG2 being the default during the time you have the top card removed. If you just remove the top card and don't adjust the bios, you might not get a picture at all. Just a caution, motherboards are different.

Good point. I did try to download the BIOS manual for that board but it was literally crawling down @ sub dial-up speeds, so I didn't get a chance to look through the available settings.
