Cursor roams about

Hi,
I have this very annoying problem where the cursor will intermittently roam about whilste I am typing more often than not when composing or replying to an email. My typed words will insert themselves amongst already typed text or further down the page. I have A Dell lattitude E6420 laptop, dual booted with Win 7 pro and Linux mint, both O/S's are affected.



This message has been created within Win 7 and there has been no trouble typing it as already described.
some help and advice please.

Hi Brian,

As its happening on both OS's, would tend to imply a hardware fault.
Having said that i must admit to an occasional jumping curser problem - BUT thats me accidently hitting the touchpad, so i turned it OFF and just use a mouse.

I sometimes have cat hair under the laser beam and it makes the cursor crazy till I clean it. Do you have pets?
Otherwise, try a different mouse.

No mouse it’s a Laptop with a touchpad, re:- original question

try a rollback of your drivers I had the same issue and now it works fine

This is usually caused by the touch pad setting being too sensitive, or vibrations coming through the touch pad as you type or whatever.

Try changing the sensitivity setting, if you cannot do that you may have to accept using an external mouse. This Dell website should help you disable the touch pad.
