d3d8thk.dll contains an error message

While trying to execute a direct tv program that will permit me to watch direct tv on my PC, I get a message that says c:\windows\system32\d3d8thk.dll is ether not designed to run on windows or it contains an error.

The program ran fine until I reinstalled windows 7. I have tried to replace the file but I get messages saying I need permission from TrustedInstaller. I don't know how to get around this problem. Any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem, where did u get the new file to replace it (it is not in the DirectX redist package)? thx for answer.
