Data app too large

Hi All,

I have a program for slide show, unfortunately all effects are stored in Application data in drive c:
so far it arrives to 50GB.
Is there any way to store the data in another drive and that the program will know to read it,
like shortcut?

Unfortunately it was not solved.

If you are creating slideshows then presumably you have many jpeg files. Where do these files come from? If they are photos from a camera then it looks like you may using them without editing the files size. How do you view these slide shows, on your PC , television or do you use a projector? What I am trying to establish is can you reduce the file size of the individual images without loosing any picture quality. If you have 50GB of photos then you either have many thousands or they are all very large files! Might be able to help yu over this problem but need a bit more detail. Can you just pick one file and post its file size please?

The point is that the data that are stored in the application data are effects like templates. it has nothing to do with my personal data. it has no photos only the project files.

In the absence of you PC specs it is difficult to help you but it is quite clear from the link in your other post that you can store your projects on another drive. I hear what you say that there are no photos stored just project files but do not the project files contain photos or other items that are in the slide show? What is in the project files if not images? Have you got another hard drive in your PC?
Just in case you didn't follow the link in your other post, here it is again, it seems to contradict what you say about saving the projects.

May be I was misunderstood, Actualy these files effects and transition like templates without any photos, just empty project. The point is that I cant choose where to save them. Is there any kind of mirror that let the file store in D or E and cheat the program?

What do you mean by "any kind of mirror"? Why do you want to save an empty project?
Also can you confirm that you have carefullly read and undrstood the article that the link above takes you to and can you reply to my questions. They are asked for a specific reason. You ask for help but seem reluctant to carry out any suggestion that I make. For one program that has none of your data entered to grow on it's own and to be so large suggests something radically wrong with your setup. Can you run through just how you set up a slideshow with this program?

I will try to explain myself. The program needs effect in order to a proffessional look. this effect descibes how the photo will behave such as how it will move in whoch speed when it will change the opacity, when it will turn, in which direction etc. sometimes the effects file are very small some hundred bites and sometimes couple of megas. since I have couple of thausands it reach 50 GB.
The point is that the program need these effect to be availabe in case the user wish to use it.

I understand what you are saying but when you say you have added no data how does the program grow from 40GB to 50GB. Have you yet created a slideshow with this program and if so where did you store it on your PC?
You still do not appear to have answered any of my questions, like have you read and understaood the article that the above link takes you to and have you got a seperate hard drive as well as your SSD. There is no point in just buying a new bigger SSD as according to your earlier posts it will very soon be too small for you.
PLEASE GO BACK AND TRY TO ANSWER MY VARIOUS QUESTIONS. Without answers I regret I will be unable to help you further.

Hi Mitchell,

I understood very well what you wrote. I have more HD in my coputer. In order to understand how the data grow you should know a little bit how this program function, In case you know Video editing program you will understand that there are many effects like plug in that come with the program, and you dont save the video just the effects. I even contacted the helpdesk of the program but they dont have solution.
BTW in 4 years I collected effects in 50 GB today I bought a new drive 512GB which I believe will last for at least 4 years,

Your duplicated thread already has a possible solution, specifically in Post #9 where it mentions the chance of mounting a NTFS partition in an empty folder of your C drive. This could easily trick any program. Have you tried that?

Besides, another option could be using a Junction Point. In short, you replace your "effects" folder with a junction pointing to another drive. Any program will believe its accesing C, while in fact being silently redirected to the junction target, possibly in another drive.
Just move the whole folder to another drive, then create a junction that will take the place of the original folder.
