I noticed today that the date is gone which used to right next to the time. I went thru the settings and don't see anything about it.

Any suggestions?

I have a vertical taskbar. Small icons were fine, until the month rolled over to October. Switching to large icons did not fix it. Setting the date format to not show the year (like I don't know what year it is!) fixed it.

Hope that helps someone.

You can also keep your small icons but make the taskbar itself larger by pulling it a bit upward from the bottom. That will restore the space needed to display the date as well.

I came across a Taskbar clock called T-Clock a few weeks ago. The zip download includes 32 and 64-bit versions. It is highly configurable but below is the appearance I eventually settled on. Small icons but still showing the time and date:

It doesn't install but just has an exe that starts the clock. A shortcut can be put in the Startup folder so the clock starts with Windows.

Re "control panel>all control panel items>notiifications area icons>system icons> turn on" - if you turn off then turn on again that also puts the date back again.

The date on my Windows 7 vertical taskbar (Classic Theme) has been missing for more than a day....

It does help, thank you. My display disappeared when it turned to 10/10/2015 (which is too long?). I changed it to display mm/dd/yy instead of mm/dd/yyyy, and I can see it again :D

I noticed my date was missing today. My taskbar is on the right. It was too narrow. I made the taskbar a little bigger in width and the date appeared again.
