I have a windows 7 virtual machine and it seems that my user is not allowed to run some programs.

MSE and ccleaner are the two I've come across so far. Even after setting ccleaner.exe to full control on my user it still would only work if I run as administrator.

I AM an administrator though and I am the only user.

How can I set the default options for all files to let me have full control

Hi mkr10001.

Welcome to the wonderful world of UAC (User Account Control).

By default, an administrator account does not run everything as Administrator. There are very good reasons for this, the big one being that if anything nasty did manage to get onto your machine, it won't have full access to run amok, and you have to give permission to allow it to run. So if it's not supposed to have Admin rights, or you don't recognise it, you can shut it down before any real damage is done. This was Pre-Vista versions of Windows achille's heel, most users ran as administrator all the time, and as such alot of damage could be done.

Here is a little reading material on UAC for you: What is User Account Control?

For the above reasons, I am going to highly recommend that you do NOT disable UAC. It is there for a good reason, and is an important tool in your security arsenal.

However, as it is your machine, (all be it virtual,) here is a tutorial for you, if you decide to disregard my advice: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/299-user-account-control-uac-change-notification-settings.html

Is there a way to at least set the user to be allowed to run the programs by default?

I haven't had this issue on my "real" windows 7. Not sure why it's doing it on the VM.
