I bought a dell inspiron mini with Win 7 Starter for my younger brother but managed to destroy it in just a couple of weeks and now, i cannot recover it to the factory default. He reformmated the hard drive entirely and lost everything on it but I had created a set of recovery disks(2 DVD) from it. So i tried re-installing via the DVD's but i get the error message.

A recent hardware or Software change might have installed a file that is incorrectly signed etc. File: \windows\system32\winload.exe.
Status: 0Xc0000428”

But the win7 he installs boot up. The error message only shows if I try booting from the set of recovery disk I created. Really need ur help on this. Will be waiting for your reply.

Running Dell Windows 7 PC Restore from its partition or disks you made is an inferior install, which is why Dell normally also provides the Win7 Reinstallation DVD to get the vastly superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 - if not it is provided in Step 1.

If you're set on running Recovery and it won't run from partition when attempted several times, then make sure you are booting the disks using the Dell F12 key to trigger DVD drive. It sounds like your booting the HD instead.

If you decide to do the Clean Reinstall use the same F12 key to trigger that DVD, delete all partitiions except the small Dell OEM diagnostics partition if Dell Diagnostics will still run from F12 menu. Try it now to see: Dell Diagnostics Utility - How to Run the

I was booting from my DVD Drive. The thing is that my brother wiped out every damn! including the partition. So i'm now trying to resore the OS using the recovery disk I created earlier when I bought the system for him. So I am now trying to boot the system via the F12 key then choose the DVD/RW. but keeps bringing the error message.

I recommend using the OEM clean install that gregrocker supplied and wrote .

It has everything you will need minus the Dell bloatware .

I gave you a number of options to consider and was waiting for follow-up questions. Did you even read my post as this doesn't indicate you did?
