Solved Dell laptop with windows 7 problem.....

I have a Dell laptop with win 6 home edition. There is a utility called Dell Data Safe by which some rescue disks are created. There is also a partition named recovery that is needed for this utility. I want to get rid of this recovery partition to free space on the hard drive yet I if delete it I cannot boot into windows. Is there a way to get around this problem? :D

Post a Disk Manager (C:\Windows\System32\diskmgmt.msc) image as an attachment. Whole window please.
I see no problem deleting the Recovery partition. You can't delete the System partition.

If you are getting short on free disk space, remember that Windows needs at least 20G free space to work properly.

I would try that except I am afraid the laptop will not boot after. Using partition magic, before the issues, I say the status of the recovery partition was indicated as "Active and System" so I changed it as a logical partition which resulted in the laptop not booting. Luckily, using the recovery DVDs i had already created I restored the partitions. I am a bit nervous now because I don't want the hassle of reloading everything. :-)

You need to move the Windows boot manager from the System Reserved partition to the System partition (Normally C: drive).

Follow this turtorial carefully to do that:
Bootmgr - Move to C:\ with EasyBCD

Note : once you do this, you lose the ability to use Bitlocker and OEM recovery
