Dell N7110 says its charging then not charging

Today my N7110 is having adapter/battery issues. Normally it will say it's plugged in and charging and the battery light would light up. In the past hour it would say it's plugged in and charging then suddenly to not charging. I would unplug it from the jack and plug it back in and sometimes that would work fine and quickly charge back up.

Things get stranger in battery meter. It says battery charging is disabled. I don't know if it's because it's currently stuck on 100%. There's no way to disable it. On battery health it says its performing normally.

Tbh my laptops been bugging me about the battery having a problem for a while but as shown in battery health its acting normally?

I went and turned it off then back on into BIOS and checked to see if it detected the adapter which it did, 90 w. I restarted it and now since then so far it just says fully charged 100%. It still doesn't show the battery charging light. If I unplug it and check it says 99% then if I plug it back in it goes back to fully charged.

Quite few years ago I replaced the battery. I don't remember if it was OEM or not. I think it was but not sure. I haven't had any charging issues with it until recently. I'm still using the original adapter. The light on the adapter brick is green.

Yep it's back to square one again I unplugged it for a minute, says 97%. Plug it back in says 95% plugged in, not charging. OH? and now just after I typed that it says 100% charged again. I don't think the battery % indicator is an accurate way to tell its charge. Is there any place I can look and figure out which is at fault?

I use BatteryBar, installed using Unchecky. BatteryBar's color codes (black, blue, green) is an independent "2nd opinion" concerning the "power train" from wall outlet to ac adapter to laptop's battery and internal power supply. If you install the free version, what colors do you see during one of your normal work or recreation sessions?

Huh....I installed the app but where do I find it? It's not under toolbars. Where does it install to by default?

Edit: I figured it out.

If the color you mean is the battery icon when you hover over it is orange.

77% out of 100% charged after about 5 minutes unplugged.
capacity: around 6,000 mwh out of 7,333 mwh and decreasing
discharge rate: -17,000 mwh
Battery wear: 84.9% out of 48,000 mwh

The charge rate is about just as fast as the discharge. It charges so fast I doubt it's the AC even though its a little out of shape.

Funny how now when I go into the normal area to check battery charge it is recognizing its charging and????? The white battery charging indicator turned on finally. Huh the indicator turned off a few percentages before it went to 100%. (it took a bit for that 100%)

They must have changed their color codes, the only ones I know of are: blue, black, green.
Blue = battery is charging, laptop is working only from the battery
Black = battery is fully charged, laptop working from the battery
Green = laptop is working only from the battery, not being charged by any ac power supply
Green would "warn" me to check wall outlet or extension cord or surge strip, or, the ac adapter needs looking at.

Oh ok so the battery icon before clicking on it when plugged in and fully charged was black and when unplugged and not 100% it was in green. There was no warning for the AC. If I understand the battery wear part it looks like well over half the battery can't hold a charge for long anymore.

Green will not tell anyone which is not working: wall outlet, surge strip, ac adapter, laptop internal power supply.
We the users have to hunt down which is not working or not connected.

I use NirSoft BatteryInfoView app for checking battery wear level (changed to "battery health" in latest release)

try to use the BatteryInfoView tool to check the battery health status (formerly battery wear level).
if that is below 50%, then it's time to replace that battery with a new one

erpster4, that is a good recommendation, I immediately downloaded it via chromebook, will install when home onto my W7 laptops. BatteryBar will suffice as an early EZ notification, nirsoft BatteryInfoView will do for in-depth reporting!

Oh my....battery health is at 15%. I'm not sure if I got an OEM battery the last time I replaced it or not. It says the manufacturer name is sanyo on the battery. Since the laptop is old, is there any place that offers Dell batteries that are re-built/recelled to get a full life out of them again?
