Desktop icon problem

Hi, so i have one problem on my Windows 7 Professional at work. On desktop icon settings i can't sellecet computer and recyle bin icons, to set them on desktop, neither i can see my disk partitions and disk size like on any other windows i worked on.

Well do you have admin rights because it brings to my mind at work I cannot even change mouse settings as I ma just one of the plebs.

No we dont, we got some private firm that instaled windowses before i came there and they just promoted me to manage our windowses and PCes in general. Its not big deal for that icons but im just wondering.
