Different Display Settings: WMWare & VirtualBox

...Which version of VBox are you using? Start the VM with the standard settings, then stretch the window until it's the size you want. Now click on the View menu, and select 'Autoresize Guest Display'. See what happens.

Hello Noel,

I'm using the latest version v.4.1.16.

Can't use the '”Autoresize Guest Display” as I am not being able to install the “Guest additions” to VBox.

I receive an error message, the one I have shown above on this same thread.

Thanks and regards,

Flores

You need to edit the .VBOX file in a text editor and locate the <ExtraData> section

<ExtraDataItem name="CustomVideoMode1" value="1366x768x32"/>
<ExtraDataItem name="GUI/Fullscreen" value="on"/>
......

Hello kado,

Which .VBox file to edit, and where it is located?
I opened several Oracle files with Notepad but found no <ExtraData> section.

Regards,
Flores

Hi Kado,

Your help was just great.

It was my fault being afraid of the warning on that error message I got when installing "Guest Additions" to my VBox.
If I had proceeded....

Thanks for the help,
Flores

Thanks amflores.

Just remember with VBox you can take a snapshot before you do anything that could cause problems so that you can easily backout the changes. Just press the Snapshots link in the top right corner and press the camera icon. I should have mentioned that earlier. BTW that is a facility that VMPlayer does not have.
