DiRT3 causes keyboard to freeze

Hi guys,

I recently bought Dirt3 but some reason everytime I play the game my keyboard freezes up. I must then do a had reset. It happens sometimes in the main menu and sometimes during gameplay.....

What the freak is going on....anyone have the same problem?

Try going to dirt 3 forums to see if the issue is being reported there. Because it's a new game not many will have it on seven forums so your best place to go right now is Here.

Dirt 3 has well reported horrendous freezing issues. Much of it was resolved with the first patch (which I assume you already have?), but there are still tons of guys crashing in DX11.

I'm not noticing any issues being reported, that's why I couldn't help further.

It was the same with codemasters other, F1 2010, lots of issues being reported but I never encountered any. I've always had good experience with codemaster games.

Yeah, same here. F1 2010 runs flawlessly, as does Operation Flashpoint (not that I played it much because it sucked)... and so did Dirt 3 for the first few days. Ironically, it wasn't until after I read about the crashing issues that I suffered 3 or 4 crashes in a row. The next day the patch was released and the issue disappeared.

I think i'm one of the very many "lucky" people who encountered nothing but problems with every Codies game after DiRT 2, D2 froze all the time and so did F1 2010, D3... well, that was a bit shocking, but surprisingly, nothing to do with codies, it was the GFWL client causing issues for me(just uninstalled and re-installed), but the freezing was actually down to a fresh carpet of dust covering my heatsink on my GPU, cleaned it off and it hasn't froze since on any game.


The keyboard thing though, might be something to do with your drivers if it's a non-standard keyboard, if it's a standard keyboard then it might just be that your keyboard is coming loose at the back of the system.

You're playing DiRT 3 with a keyboard? You can go as cheap as an Xbox 360 controller for PC (Which is what I've been sticking with, and it's just as good as anything over the price).
