Disable the Windows update restart prompt completely

Does anyone know a good way of disabling the Windows update restart prompt completely? I have disabled the 15 minute auto restart timer but I still get the prompt to restart popping up when I am trying to play a full screen game. The best thing I have found so far is an AutoHotKey script that automatically clicks postpone which is fine for normal computer use but the problem is that my games still minimize for the short time the popup is displayed.

The only other suggestions I have seen are to temporally or permanently disable Windows Update. I would rather not have to do anything manual to block the popup but I would also prefer it if I didn't have to completely turn off updates because I know I would just end up forgetting to install them before I shut down. If worst comes to worst I will just turn off updates completely.

Ideally what I am looking for is a group policy or registry tweak or a patched file that takes out the popup completely. I guess it is only going to get worse with Windows 8 forced updates.

Any help is really appreciated.

A word to the wise: When updating, do not have any other applications open, and a game is an application.

Thanks, but I have already done that tweak. I am looking for a way to completely turn off the popup completely, not just disable the timer. Thanks for the suggestion though.
