Discovery Problem in Windows Explorer

Okay this problem only arose yesterday after installing Cyberlink Powerdirector.

When entering Windows explorer from say
Start>Documents
Explorer comes up as normal and sits empty, with a load of discovery icons (magnifying glasses moving in circular motion) on the left window pane.

Although if i say entered explorer this way:
Downloads Window (FFox 3)> Select a item > Right click > Open Containing Folder
Then explorer opens as normal with out the above problem

It doesnt do this straight away, for example:
Yesterday, after i processed a video in Cyberlink Powerdirector the problem arose
Today, after i scanned a couple documents in Fireworks CS3 (w/my scanning application) it started doing this again.

Also if you locate the files that i scanned/processed and click on them they sit there as a unkown file type (the page icon with the top left corner folded) and the information pane at the bottom of the screen displays no information - that is NO information, not even the field names.

I can solve this problem by restarting, but that is an inconvenience for me as i scan alot of documents.

I have run a anti spy ware program through my computer, (SpyBot S&D) and i always have Avast On-Acess Scanner running.

I am not a good citizen and pirate alot of software, and the fact that i used a crack for PowerDirector may have caused this, but i am still unsure of that.

If anyone can recognise this problem, and identify it as a general problem with W7 or that its what happens thanks to a inconvinient virus - please reply :)

This problem does seem very odd. I am not familiar with PowerDriector, nor would I discuss that you cracked it.
However, have you tried simply uninstalling it and seeing if the problem goes away? It sounds like something got replaced that shouldn't have during the installation or whatever methods you used to gain full access to the software.

If uninstalling it doesn't work, restore to a previous system restore point and see if that helps.

The problem is still continuing.....

Much to my annoyance

Ill be contacting my family friend.

But its gone one step beyond now,

After Explorer crashes, it of course restarts itself (as most people know that when it restarts it plays the log on tune & the taskbar re-appears). But when you go to enter explorer it says:
explorer.exe
The remote procedure call failed and did not execute

I have System Restored since then to a time before when this problem arose.

Any recommendations on what i should do are welcome

If all else fails you could try a later build. Your problem does seem very odd and I have not experience it myself.

I would first attempt a system restore before wiping your drive...
