So I have a Windows 7 Toshiba laptop and I use the default defragmenter to help clean my computer. There are 2 disks that it can defragment:

(C: ) and
System

Beside each of them shows the last time they were last looked at and how fragmented they are. It says that 2% of System is fragmented, but when I select the "Defragment disk" button, it says something underneath the Progess column, but it goes by so fast I can't read it and it doesn't defragment the disk.

What should I do to fix this? Or does it even need to be dealt with at all?

Sounds like you are trying to defrag system reserved partition, this is a very small partition reserved on the HDD with your boot info and some windows recovery options in there hence why there is no drive letter assigned to it, if this is the case its best left well alone, it should only be 100MB in size and defragalyzing it will do nothing, and if you frag it up your comp wont boot

If your not sure or dont understand post a snip of your disk management window
Start>diskmgmt.msc

Instead of using the generic defragmenter in W 7, I strongly recommend that you use Puran Defrag (Download from Puran Defrag Trial and Free Edition Download), a free utility, to defrag your drives. It has the ability to do it during the boot process also and it works like a charm.
