For some time i was having an issue with my pc when I'd restart or Reboot it would do the Compaq screen the go to a black screen with a flashing | and I'd have to use CTRL+ALT+DEL then hit ESC on the Compaq screen to enter boot menu and manually select my Hard Drive. One day I was uninstalling unused programs on my pc to free up memory and one of them was Windows Essentials after I was done uninstalling all I wanted gone I rebooted and the problem did not persist.
Now I do not claim that Windows Essentials was the cause but I just barely reinstalled it to get Windows Movie Maker back and I had to reboot after installation and now I get Disk I/O error Please reinsert the disk and try again, or something like that, and have to do the boot menu trick again.
And yes when I first had the issue I checked and in BIOS Settings my Hard Drive is the first in boot order and when I hit ESC to get the manual boot menu it's at the top. So what can I do to resolve this issue? Is it Windows Essentials causing these errors?

Load bios defaults on the computer, than run manufactuer diagnostics on hard disk, or check its smart values with something like parted magic if it doesnt boot into windows.

it boots when I do manual boot menu selecting the hard drive but normally it doesn't but I finished my project and uninstalled Windows Movie Maker again and will try rebooting again soon see if it still has a problem.

Just can't do it right now waiting for a message on skype when my fiance's plane lands in new york she's on her way back from Belgium at the moment but if it does I will try what you said.

Thank you. :D
