Computer information: Compaq Prescario CQ56, bought about 6 months ago.

Alright, this problem hasn't happened before. I logged omto my computer and for some reason, the display looked rather "thin." Like how it would look if you set your display to "widescreen" on a normal square TV. Pictures look skinnier than they should, text looks like it is joined closer together than normal.

I made sure the orientation was set to landscape and my resolution is at the max (1366x768). I hit the "projector" function key (F4) and set it to "duplicate", even though I have no projector. When this was done, it looked similair to how it should (resolution was 1024x768), but the graphics quality suffered and it looked a little too zoomed in.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Firstly, if your computer is still under warranty, I'd be inclined to get it back to HP/Compaq for repair.

Secondly, it sounds as though your graphics card could be the problem so you could check for any updated drivers. HP support should have them available for download.

I doubt it's in need of repair...I already searched for display drivers, but I'm up to date, haven't thought of it being a graphics card problem. I'll check and see if it needs updating. Will post results.

You may doubt it's in need of repair, but surely it's better to get it checked out while it's under warranty?

See what happens when you update your grahics drivers. If that doesn't cure it, I'd be contacting the manufacturer pretty sharpish.

I don't even know where the warranty card is anyway, but I'll have it checked at BestBuy next week when i fly up to the US if I don't find a solution otherwise (really hoping it's not that serrious x.x).

Why would you not just go to hp's website, look up your model and download the latest driver? It isn't rocket science.

MacGvyr, that thought did cross my mind. I guess I'm getting too damned benevolent at my time of life. :geek:

Couldn't find much on that link o.e Don't know of any graphics drivers either personally. Anyone know a direct link or how I can identify a graphics driver?

You were looking on HP's UK site where your model is not available.

You need to be on HP's US site for your particular model.

Select a product or category from the list below - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

Just expand the list for US models.

K, well I don't think it's a driver issue now, because I'm up to date. I think I hit a button on the keyboard or something, but I'm not sure which. Thoughts?

You might want to right-click your desktop and click Screen Resolution.

Under Advanced Settings, click Make text and other items larger or smaller and tinker with Small, Medium and Larger DPI settings.

Did this. Have resolution set to the max (recomended) and text/item size set to medium.
