hey everybody,

I've looked through these forums and other ones and have tried all the things I've found aside from doing anything to the router seeing as I don't have control over it. But, recently my internet got really slow so I tried to fix that but could only get it to work over ethernet. Now, however, my internet doesn't work for my laptop at all through both ethernet and WiFi. (I am currently connected through tethering on my G1) I've tried "ipconfig /flushdns" , deleting and reinstalling the drivers, disabling/ uninstalling AVG, virus scans, using openDNS, reboot. Nothing has worked so far and I'm not sure I want to go back to Linux and set up my drivers again.

If it helps here is my ipconfig /all

Yeah my router is listed on the compatibility list Compatibility List , I wasn't the one that setup the network but I'm pretty sure that it was created following similar guidelines using WEP-Encryption and what not.

So if you didn't set this up, we definitly need to get the status on your network to see how it was set up, thats the important thing....

Can you post the IPCONFIG /all

then go into your router and we need for you to go to the status page and make a print screen image of that please and post it on here as well.

To fix it I tried disabling autotuning, ipconfig /flushdns, replacing drivers with ones from OEM and using windows, nothing really worked so I gave up on that and switched to ethernet and used that until it suddenly stopped working. I have the WEP Key and I know how to get to the page but I don't have the username and password for it. As far as I know we have 2 routers in the house with the modem set up inside and connecting to one of the routers in our house.

I'm connected to a Belkin F5D7230-4 54g Router that has Version 100, and as a side note thanks to all that are helping me, running off the internet on my phone is frustrating for school work. (Also, other computers on the network CAN connect to the internet through the same router) - > Win XP

First thing is first... you should always be able to have access to your router.

On the back of the router will be a RESET button.

You might need a bobby pin/paperclip... hold it in for up to 30 seconds. or until the lights on the front start to indicate that it has been reset.

to get into a belkin router.. this is the ip address:

http://192.168.2.1

User: admin

Pass: *ships with no password*

I had a belkin and i looked up your router and that is what it wil be after the reset. I would definitly hard wire into your router until we can fully cofigure it correctly.

If you would like helop, i'll be more than happy to remote desktop with you

= ADDING TO THIS.... =
==================================================

Here is the Firmware as well. This could help you get your router working with Windows 7 a little bit better. I am not sure of your version nor of the version on this page.... So, its a shot in the dark.... but it does have instructions on how to do it.

Ok the details of your Ipconfig looks like it should work as you have all the important incredients showing correctly. Your tethering as well as your wireless connection. If you think the DNS is not correct, i'm not sure how you managed to get it, if you have set everything to auto-detect. Is that the case?

You said you don't have access to your router's control panel, how come? We might need to check if MAC cloing is enabled or disabled for your wireless adapter.

I think he needs to check the time to live in the router. Are you using ppoe like ATT or sbc, or are you using cable like comcast? if you are able to connect at one moment, then unable to connect at another moment, as I mentioned before, check the TTL in the router.

I wrote how to reset the router a while ago, lets see how many more pages we got to go through before it gets done.

I know some people are scared to touch the hard ware but your going to need access to everything to make it work.

I think its the router myself...
