to burn audio cds? i mean, if i have a collection of music that is in a folder kept hidden from MP's claws, can't windows itself burn an audio cd? i open the folder of the album i want, click burn, it puts the temporary files on my burner drive, it even asks me if i want to make an audio cd!! then when i choose what kind of audio cd (audio or data) it hands everything off to media player to do the burning. i just wish that step could be avoided. i don't use media player to manage my music and really don't care to see it unless i'm watching a movie or something or playing a song. and i'm also then left with those damn temporary files hanging around, wondering why they are even there in the first place since MP is about to step in and do the job.

if there is no solution for this at least i got to gripe some and get it off my chest.

thanks
wes

I'm not certain if the Window's native cd burning method allows you to switch between data and audio formats, but you can burn CD's outside of media player.

Burn a CD or DVD in Windows Explorer

If you really want to burn Audio CD's without using media player, you might as well get a lightweight program that can do it for you.

CDBurnerXP: Introduction and News

If you want an alternative to view/play media files there are many alternatives out there.

I recommend Foobar 2000 for audio and either VLC Media Player or Meda Player Classic: Home Cinema for video.

According to MS quote: If you want to create other types of discs, such as a DVD-Video disc (to play in a regular DVD player) or an audio CD (to play in a regular CD player), you’ll need to use a different program

A very good freebie burner that will do exactly what you want is BurnAware.I have it on my setup and use it all the time.

thanks,

i know there are a million little burning programs floating around and i probably have a few hidden in some folder somewhere. i just figured windows would be able to handle something like that itself. i wonder if hmmmmmm:sarc: i uninstalled media player, would i still be able to burn an audio cd?
