I have the following updaters on my startup

Adobe Updater Startup Utility
Google Update
DivX Update

If i disable them would it affect the startup speed at all?

Also is ZoneAlarm Browser Security just a toolbar or is it something more useful?

I think so . As much program will start up with windows, it would be slower .

If you disable those updater programs at startup, you will get your speed back .

click START and type "msconfig". find it in the list and click to open it. select the "startup" tab. you can then uncheck the boxes next to the items so they wont start every time you boot your computer. nearly everything in the list can be disabled. if you find something doesnt work, just re-enable it.

I only let AV, gadgets and stikynotes (if I leave one open on desktop) into my Startup list.

Others are freeloaders on CPU/RAM and can spy on you.

quote from Mark Russinovich **Autoruns' Hide Signed Microsoft Entries option helps you to zoom in on third-party auto-starting images that have been added to your system and it has support for looking at the auto-starting images configured for other accounts configured on a system. Also included in the download package is a command-line equivalent that can output in CSV format, Autorunsc.**
