Do you compress your C drive?

Should i uncompressed my hard drive on my main computer? I currently have 574 GB of free space

You'll find that it works a lot faster and better uncompressed, so yes.

I know the question is open to debate but personally I would never compress any drive unless it was entirely devoted to long-term storage and rarely accessed.

It really doesn't make since to compress a drive since, oh.... 10 years ago, the price per gigabyte has never been cheaper. Not only does it slow your system down it's just another piece of technology to go wrong! :shock:

I would never consider compressing a drive these days. it's probably been 15+ years since I ever compressed a disk.

Can you say SCSI-1? That was my last time on a server. Drives were expensive and space was short.

Ever had a single file get corrupted and cause headaches? In a general sense, compression treats your whole hard drive like a single file. One little glitch and - kablooie. :shock:

I haven't used compressing my hard drives, but what i did is i bought my external storage to store my other files there rather than compressing it.
