Documents folder has lost options

I have noticed in my livrary the documents folder has lost it`s "group by" and "sort by" options sort by is shaded out - is there anyway to get these back

I fixed this myself - i created a new documents folder and removed the old one -

GOOD ON YOU!!!! It has been the same since DOS. More often than not it is easier to do an end run rather than charging up the middle fighting the OS all the way.
