consider putting vent hole on top of where the PSU Fan might be, also if you are buying a 'Good Looking' GPU then i would consider a small windows just to show off, same with cpu cooler

Maybe. This one only has a 120W PSU built in, and only supports one internal drive. Not too mention that it is out of stock almost everywhere.

SO BACK TO SQUARE ONE IS IT, the truth is you pay more but you can get exactly what you want of a cse with no limitations (except budjet)

With this system I can have an optical drive and five 2.5" drives.
The motherboard i picked has a H77 chipset and has two sata3 ports and four sata2 ports. I could have theoptivcal drive and SSD on the sata3 ports, and I could possibly also fit 4 hard drives in this. Should I make them raid? would RAID 10 be better than RAID 5?

I'd rather not spend over $200 for each hard drive, but after that, this is more of a project I'd like to do eventually (when I'm done school and have a job) so there's no real budget limitation. So I don't really need specifics, just things like if WD green drives will work or what can handle limited cooling

if you want speed then get 4 x wd velociraptors 600gb for $180 each and u get near-ssd, or if you want more storage then get any 7200rpm 1tb drive from a quality vendor

I think I definitely want something that doesn't need airflow.
I figured out how I would mount the hard drives, and that involves literally stacking them, with a thin peace of foam or felt in between the drives. Is this doable? or will I run into overheating issues?

instead of felt maybe 2sheets of alluminium or steel. If for some odd reason a drive does overheat the felt might melt and ruin your drives/light on fire.

the velociraptor only has the cooling fins because they need something to fill the space. It is just a tad warmer than the normal drives, just heapes faster.

avoid having flammable/burnable things near warm appliances (cpu is right next door)

you can even remove the fins alltogether, they are just there to ramp the sizen upto 3.5"

I don't have to use felt, i just want something soft like rubber to reduce vibrations and prevent the drives from rattling.

And I need 2.5" laptop drives.

what rack top? The way I'm thinking of, the hard drives will be literally STACKED. there will be NO screws or mounting points.

pretty much. they'll be boxed in so they don't move around, but all that's holding them apart is a little bit of rubber or something.
