Judging by the top level domains you mentioned you are from Canada? If so, I wholeheartedly recommend GoDaddy. I use them here in Europe and have only positive things to say.
Checking the Canadian GoDaddy pages today shows you can get a .com domain with CAD 1.49, not a bad price. Their hosting services are also excellent (my personal, subjective opinion) and as far as I know even these forums of ours are hosted on GoDaddy servers.
