I have tried DownloadHelper and Orbit Downloader to download Silverlight streaming video but none of these works. Does anyone know a utility which can download Silverlight streaming video?

Thanks for your reply. I tried the first three on the list at the second link as above but none worked. Then, I tried the one at the first link but had no luck.

The videos streaming I am interested in is hosted by one of those presses in Japan. This is an example. I wonder if there is anyone who could download video from this host.

The subject must be misleading: I have no problem playing the video by any browser. I wanted to know what software utility allow me to download the video file to save it in my local hard drive.

You have to capture it while it is streaming. That is what the utility I linked to does.

Yes, I understood what the utility is supposed to do, and as I stated in my thread starter post, I have been using this type of utility.
Thank you anyway for trying to help me.

I haven't been able to find anything capable of downloading Netflix streams (Silverlight) yet. Certainly not Orbit or Downloadhelper

I checked MS Silverlight forum and found that their discussion included how to have video file not copied from its streaming host. On the separate threads at the forum questions of how to copy the file are asked but are apparently ignored.

So, there are hosts who do not want their video file copied and Netflix must be one of those. I thought my problem is the same case but then found that the press is also streaming the same videos using Youtube in the same HD resolution. They are here and here but come with advertisement though. The second one is in HD.

I always use Sothink Web Video Downloader to grab streaming videos. It also works with Silverlight videos. HTH. :D

I know this is an old thread, but Applian's Replay Media Catcher will also capture the tsunami stream you posted - I just tried it, worked perfectly. It won't work with all Silverlight streams (e.g., Netflix), but it does work with this site.
