I don't think I could ping the firewall and No nothing else is DHCPing

The Managed switch should have an IP address, ( so you can manage it )

This is on the same range as your network right? and not on it's own 192.168*.*
It will need to be on the same range as your lan, possibley out of your dhcp range.

This might not be an option on some switches, But the Cisco ones I use at our data centre, certainly has that option.

The IP for my switch is 192.168.12.1 (My Subnet 255.255.0.0.) Which is fine.

change subnet of switch to 255.255.255.0

No because the network subnet is 255.255.0.0 we had to open it up to allow more devices.

Have you tried Reseting the switch back to default settings.

I read the manual and it says it comes ready to optain an IP address from "A" dhcp server on the network,

How many DHCP servers do you have?.

No because there are so many customs settings especially with the Vlan's. Yeah its currently statically set.

And just one. Which is the firewall (well will be when its working anyway)

Can you access the internet if you setup the PC as a static address?

When plugged directly switch no. However when plugged into the firewall Yes it works fine and DCHP's.

If you log into your firewall can you see a list of devices, that has connected ?.

Can you see the switches ip address?. In the list ?
Have you checked to make sure there isn't an ip conflict with the switch and another device ?.

Try making an IPv4 rule that allows the subnet. NetworkID / CIDR If possible to do a scope.

I will have to try this next time I add the firewall to the network. Any other ideas if that don't work?

I've already asked this, But make sure there isn't a IP conflict with the Managed switch, Ping the network for the same IP of the managed switch, whilst the managed switch is unplugged.
