Drive is not Accessible...

Something has gone wrong with one of my internal HDD's. When i boot i get a message telling me that the drive is corrupted and i should run a chkdsk, which i do. But the chkdsk only last a few seconds and doesn't actually check anything. I can see the drive in explorer but can't access it.

Tried changing drive letters just to see what would happen and i got a message asking me to format, but i've some files i'd like to recover if possible. I noticed that the file system is listed as RAW which wasn't the case before I had this problem, and the chkdsk that comes up during boot says it's NTFS.

As for what might have cause this, I got a BSOD when trying to do an overclock and since then i've had this problem.

So its there anything i can try to fix this?

Download and install Partition Wizard Home Edition 8.1.1 Free download Magic Partition Manager Software, partition magic alternative, free partition magic, partition magic Windows 7 and server partition software - Partition Wizard Online and run Partition Recovery Wizard. followed those instructions. done nothing for me. when it finished scanning the drive nothing happened, i couldn't even explore the files on the drive. fwiw, in partition wizard the drive is listed as NTSF, but in disk management it is listed as RAW.

Choose the option to have chkdsk run on next start...it should complete properly doing it that way...
The fact that DM lists it as RAW may point to a power issue...how is it cabled to the PSU ? ?...check the connection and try another power cable if there is one available.

That is a little strange. Can you please post a screenshot of how the drive looks in Windows Disk Management and how it looks in Partition Wizard? Just for information.

The reference given by whs, wants you to run Test Disk. As a matter of fact my thread as per which you had run Partition Wizard, also tells you how to recover data using Test Disk. However I would advise you to keep it as a last option since Test Disk has a learning curve and a bit difficult for the first time user. Try to recover the data into an external drive running a live Linux CD/pen drive.

In all cases you may use Rufus - Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way - to create a bootable Linux pen drive with the downloaded Linux ISOs , boot your machine with it and try recovery onto an external HDD.
