I am a single (and only) user on a 32bit Windows 7 SP1 Professional desktop and am trying to install updated WiFi drivers and "Access is denied."
There are eight drive partitions and all account permissions cascade to subfolders and files. This configuration appears on both the source update files and the target files to be replaced.

The owner on all drives is the SYSTEM account. There are no other accounts used and other accounts names were deleted because several months ago I ran into a permission problem and this was the only way I could resolve it.
Perhaps someone can tell me what I am doing wrong.

Am an administrator and I am using the update option of the device manager "update drivers". The drivers don't come with an installation program. They are just the .cat, .dll, and the .inf files. I am not using the terminal to install, because I wouldn't know how.
