Hi Guys,

I was googling some forum and got this as the first results...

Anyways...

I've already done with Dual Boot Windows XP and Windows 7
But... I've some doubts....

Note: Initially i created 75GB of Raw partition when XP was installed.

1. When i goto XP my OS folder location is C:\Windows and
Windows 7 folder location I:\Windows

2. When i go to Windows 7 my OS drive is C:\Windows and
Windows XP drive is D:\Windows....

Currently, I'm not facing any problems, But wanted to know
how & why its happening like that...??

Please explain and help....

Thanks.

Welcome to the Seven Forums! adkan11

The answer to that one is very basic in that the drive letter in 7 for XP is different from the one in XP assigned for the 7 drive or primary depending on if you are dual booting on one single hard drive or across two separate drives.

You can have both versions see each other as D or E or F or... simply by going into the Disk Management tool and right clicking on the other version's partition to select the change drive letter option seen in the right click menu.

Want to change I to D for 7? The XP DM is where to go there. Want to change D to I when booted in 7? The DM in 7 would be the place to be in the newer version.

Hi Luigi. You'll need to start a new Thread in General forum.

Make the title descriptive enough to attact those who know the answer to your question, fill out your System Specs and give a more complete description of what you have done, what has happened, and what you need.

Thanks for your reply....

It's easy to fix for sure! :D Typically with a single optical drive that is left as D while a second OS is set to E, F, G, when booted into the other.

For each install you boot into it will generally see itself as C while some dual boots off of the same host drive may see D when booting into the second OS. I've run into that problem on a few occasions as well from dual and even multibooting OSs here.
