how do i dual boot with windows 10 and 7

well i have win10 a guy told me on win10 forums to post this on win7 forums so i did infact

i have finished writing win7 installation files on rufus to my usb stick,i rebooted my pc into the boot menu i saw the usb stick and i selected it and it showed

sooo i dont know what to do i created a drive i used data from my hdd and created a drive i created a Unalloced space so pls help me with this btw im running win10 rn so yeah pls help, thanks.

Welcome to the forum. Its not very clear screenshot but it seem like your system is uefi and the files you created are MBR so it wont boot 10 need to be uefi

so i finished my rufus write so i plugged my usb stick in so i booted into the boot menu i saw the usb stick keep in mind i was in windows 10 so i selected the usb which had win7 install files in it i will try again


i tryed to post it in ten forums a guy said that i should post here, i dont have a win7 operating system when i tryed to select win10 on this forum it said win7 only so i dont really have windows 7 i have windows 10

What Win 7 version you intent to install (Home, HP, Pro or Ultimate)?
Do you have a Win 7 license? We don't help with any kind of cracks. It is against the Forum rules.

Post an whole Disk Manager image (C:\Windows\System32\diskmgmt.msc)
Expand the columns so we can read them and with the snipping toll take a snapshot of the whole window. Post it here as an attachment. Use the paper clip on the quick replay window. Browse to the saved image and upload.

Can anyone help me? i used a different iso tho its from microsoft i have a uefi dual bios and i have a gpt thing in rufus which my pc tells me to use that i used a ntfs file system on rufus to write files on the usb stick i hope you can guys please tell me how to fix this, i hope you can understand and see the screenshot

Ok, drive 0 is UEFI-GPT.
Is drive 1 also GPT?
Open Disk Manager - View - Top - Disk list. What type is the drive, MBR or GPT?

look i copied my iso files to usb i used rufus to write ofc on gpt and ntfs i tryed to run the setup from the boot menu

that thing you asked me about also when i was writing files in rufus i new drive was created i have 2 screenshots 1 is the disk managment, 2 the new drive

first of all i diddnt create the drive i think you can see it in the screenshot when i started writing then the drive was created i diddnt create it i hope you can help me i would be very happy

Forget Rufus.

Lets do a Win 7 USB installation drive.
Open a CMD window as administrator and type:
diskpart
list disk (it will list all drives. Identify the USB drive number)
select disk n (replace n by the USB drive number obtained with list disk)
clean
convert mbr
create part primary
select part 1
format fs=fat32 quick
assign
active
exit (to exit diskpart)

On Win 10, mount the Win 7 iso file and COPY all files and folders to the root of the USB Fat32 drive created above.

As your drive 1 is GPT you must install Win 7 64 bits as UEFI-GPT.

To boot and install as UEFI - GPT (64 bits only) you need to boot the installation drive as UEFI and to do so you must add the Boot folder under EFI

Windows 7 isn't compatible with fast boot and secure boot. You Must disable it on BIOS

Boot from the Win 7 USB installation drive created above as UEFI (not legacy). Go to install, delete the win7 partition created on drive 1 and install on the unallocated space.

Good to hear it is working as you wanted.

On a UEFI the boot loader is on the EFI Fat32 partition (on disk 0). As both are windows you will have one boot loader with two options. You can change the default by running MSConfig and and on the Boot tab select the default.

No, the install order (Win 7 or Win 10) doesn't matter.
