Dual Monitor identity number issue

I just got a new 2nd monitor (
Samsung S24D390HL). My primary was (
ASUS VS248H-P). I want to switch their roles. I understand how to go to display settings and drag them around, or how to click on my new monitor and list it as the primary display.
My issue is I want to use the Samsung (listed as #2), as my main for everything. I want to use the ASUS (#1) as an extended desktop that I can turn on and off. I had a program from ASUS that would let me turn off my old LG on and off. I would like to replicate this. My issue is that since the ASUS is listed as #1, even though the Samsung is listed as primary, whenever I turn off extended display through the program it just shuts off my Samsung and swaps the desktop over to the ASUS.
I have tried installing new drivers for the video card. I tried only leaving the Samsung (#2) plugged in and in Device Manager test for hardware changes. It then made the Samsung #1. When I went to plug the ASUS thinking it would list it as #2 it just changed them back to the original numbers.
Basically what I need is a way to just use the ASUS as an extended display for extra space when doing some programming for school or various other applications. Is there a program or a way I can do this without spending 50$ on some of these programs offered online?

Hi, welcome.

Have you tried switching how the monitors are connected to the computer?
