Hello;

Hubby bought a Dynex Gigabit PCI adapter for my PC today. Even tho we followed the install instructions we get an error code 10 and it says the device failed to install properly. The box says it is compatible with Windows 7--however we are having a hard time in finding updated drivers for this device and what we are finding is telling us that the code 10 means its is a driver problem. We tried reinstalling/repairing without success.

My PC has abuilt in broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller that is built in but really seems to slow things down. This was supposed to fix that.
My PC is a AMD anthelon 64 processor 3200+ 2 GHZ
3.0 Gig Installed RAM
32 bit OS w Pen input available

Any help is appreciated.

The gigabit PCI adapter does not speed up your computer, it just allows you to transfer your data @ gigabit speeds across your network (Cat 6). The speed of you internet is set by your ISP. If your computer doesn't seem to be as fast as it once did, I would guess and say you have some malware, spyware and adware lurking around which need to be cleaned. Also your hard drive might need to be defragged and I would uninstall/remove any old video's, music, programs you no longer need or use.

Hmm Perhaps I said it wrong. We are at 12 Megs DSL and I do get those speeds. We play online games alot. My husbands PS has the same capability as the card he just bought me and he as NO lag in game. Everything on MY PC ( vid card, sound card processor etc) is the same as his, I actually have more RAM, but in game I get A LOT Of lag. One if the fixes recommended was to upgrade the NIC card. There is no Malware on my PC. That has been checked, re checked etc.

Thank you for your reply. If anyone knows how to install this card, I would appreciate the help!!

A NIC card will not fix game lag unless it's bad. I dont' think that's the case here.
You have something running in the back ground (a service) or malware/virus.

That faster NIC card will only come into play transferring files from one PC to the other in your household...it will not effect your Internet connection speed.

You have low end hardware and high end hardware, Dynex is in that low end category and I would tend to stay away from such stuff. Although, some of the low end stuff does work and well...ie fans. Even though the box says it's compatible it's not always true. I would return that one and get a little more upscale brand such as Belkin, Dlink, Csico...etc, these companies have websites to download drivers if windows doesn't use it's generic drivers.

Oh I stand corrected, Dynex does have a support/downloads site....here you go.

Dynex™ Gigabit PCI Desktop Adapter : Dynex

download the driver and see if that helps.

I have this network card and it works great on my win 7 64 bit pc.

I had no problems installing it, after installing I updated the driver and it went with "Realtek PCI GBE Controller" Driver.

Maybe try a search for that and see if it helps.

Quick google search found it here.

Realtek PCI GBE Family Controller Driver Download - PC Pitstop Driver Library

I dont know if thats what my pc downloaded, as I just went to device manager and let it do the work.
