Email Address's List Security

Hi Folks, I use Gmail as my mail app but read & write messages using Thunderbird.
I got a spam mail, it was from my heating engineer,
I have never contacted or been contacted by him using email, I only use a non smart mobile/cell phone. How did I get a message using his full name but not from his email account?.
I am on Win7 Home Prem. 32bit running Windows Firewall & Avast free version.
I have never had any of my pc's attacked or having a virus as my surfing is not extensive.

I don't see what post you are referring to when you mention ":Sammy."

What I can tell you is that you can block a domain or email address in your gmail account settings. But your heating engineer would have to use a different email or domain.

There is malware that will steal the contacts list inside an email client, etc. So it's possible your heating engineer had their contacts list stolen and once that happens you'll get spammed, etc.
