I have Home Windows 7 premium which means I cannot Encrypt, create dynamic disks, or mirror (RAID 1) my hard drives, so if this is true and I want to use any of these I need to go back to my Vista Ultimate?

You don't HAVE to go back to Vista Ultimate, you can get an upgrade to Professional as an option.

Hmmm....

I would try a BIOS RAID 1 Setup, and see if the driver would install.

Ya know, it just might work!

Never have been a fan of software raid - too slow...

Good Luck!

So even if I have Home Premium I might be able to do a Hardware RAID 1. I'm building a new computer which might help?

Nothing in any version of Windows, be it Vista, 7 or XP will prevent you from being able to use RAID done by the hardware. Windows just needs a driver so it can see the RAID setup properly and access it without performance issues.

Hardware RAID1 serves little purpose, especially in a workstation environment, but if you insist on using it, at least set it up as an array using the controllers...not in Windows (software RAID...no thank you). This way, as long as the OS has controller drivers, you're fine...and Windows 7 will.

Honestly, if you are that concerned about data integrity, pull one of the drives and put it in an external housing, unless you do this already. If so, then you're just wasting one drive's worth of space.

I know your right because I have so many backups you could throw away my computer and everything in my computer room and my OS and data would still be safe. I guess I am over doing it.
Thanks
