Hi,

Hope someone can help with this.

We have six pc's, four of which run Windows 7 (some Home, some Professional) and two recently purchased pc's are on Windows 10. Networking them together has usually been problematical but I eventually get there. Except for one of the Windows 7 pcs that has the Home Premium version. It will not allow access to the public documents folder, asking for a Network Username and password.

I've turned off Password Protected Sharing, and done a lot of searching about this. What I thought I had narrowed it down to was the Local Security Policy which needs changing, but I have now learned that MS decided not to include this in W7 Home versions.

I wonder if anyone has any clues as to what else to try?

Enter username and password for an administrative user on that pc ensure the share is set to everyone and what people miss is NTFS permission is set to everyone

The administrator account has no password or username. Or are you saying I should create one?

I'll check the NTFS share settings.

Thanks Samuria. I haven't set a password for my user account, and as you can see I am the administrator.

For clarity I am Mark, and the computer is known as DispenseDesk on the network.

I have looked at the NTFS and share settings, and as far as I can see everything is set to allow access. I got to this by right clicking on the public docs

On the Security tab, there is another group or user listed as Service. All of the groups are showing as "allow", but the two that only have "Special permissions" checked are Creator/Owner and Batch. If I try to change these I receive an error message saying Access denied followed by this:

Am I going about this in the wrong way?
