Erase a write protected usb

downloaded the thing from softpedia, failed to low level format.

tried the tutorial but got this at the first step

Right click on "Computer". Select "Manage". Navigate to "Disk Management".

EDIT - You typed the wrong command that's why.

You are typing it wrong, that is your problem. It is diskmgmt.msc. Simple typo is all.

Note: In prior posts the Registry Key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
was posted. You need to look in all versions of that key just to be sure:

Check:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

Try to copy the files to a specified Folder..... and then delete it from the specified folder

I have determined a sure fire way to erase that drive.

Take a brick and smash it, then buy a new one that works well, you can get a 32gb one pirated from China on E-Bay for $20.

Did u try performing wat u want in a Linux distro? If one not avail, u can also use soem of the Live Linux distro. Sometimes, Linux can do wat Windows doesnt.
