Error 0x08004005 - bluetooth device

I formatted my laptop and now I can't reinstall my game controller.

Windows picks it but breaks during the installation. If I go through "add devices" the controller shuts down and I get the 0x80004005 error. And if I let the "a bluetooth device wants to connect" balloon take care of the install it shuts down my controller as soon as I press 'next' during the installation. After this it claims it installed succesfully but obviously it's just teasing me.

I'm using the same OS (Win7 Ultimate x64) as before the format
Windows can recognize my other bluetooth devices
The controller works if I connect it through USB.

Anyone manage to work around this problem?

Thank you.

I already downloaded the latest drivers for my laptop from Asus homepage. I even went so far as to delete the drivers and install older versions, but that didn't work either.

Windows can find my other Bluetooth devices which makes me believe it's some other problem.

Just a thought.
Did you run Windows 7 Updates and see if it offers and drivers.
I will go back to watching.

In this case, Run SFC /SCANNOW. Also, run disk cleanup

Keep us posted.
I tried both, one prompted an updated and replaced a faulty file but nothing that affected the bluetooth.

Yes, devmgmt tells me the bluetooth radio already has the latest drivers.

I cannot remember having to do anything special to make my bluetooth work last time. I formated in August last year and bought the controller this year, both worked without any extra installations which makes it so weird now.

I'm thinking the controller might be the problem, that it already has a bluetooth PC connected and thinks this is a new computer - producing some error. Any ideas?
