Hi everyone.
I have my laptop and I was repartitioning it one day. I was neary out of room on my C drive and I had 300gb on my D drive. So using a program called EASEUS partition manager (little did I know there was a built in partition manager into 7) I Shunk the D drive to about 10gb, leaving the C drive with over 600gb.
It said it was successful, and I went to restart and windows 7 wouldn't boot.
Upon startup, it says this:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software chane may be the cause. To fix this problem:
1. Instert your windows installation disk and restart your computer.
Blah blah blah.

Status: 0xc0000225
Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

My laptop didn't come with one, I think it had one built into the computer as a single partition but we can't access that now. Pressing F8 and F9 do nothing when starting the computer before gettin the error.

Laptop Specs: (just in case, not sure why you'd need them.)

Asus K55V
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Intel core i7 2.3ghz
NVIDIA GeForce 610m

Note: I tried using a program called "A Bootable USB" to boot a downloaded 3gb windows 7 home premium 64bit file. I got stuck on the bit where it asks what partition to install on, because it says it can't install on a GTP or GPT partition, and all of my partitions are of this type.

Please help, I'm dying, it's reasonably urgent that the problem is fixed by Tuesday.

Hi Mevious welcome to the forums. Sometimes a problem when partitioning, what's happened is your Master Boot Record has become confused by the change in state on the hard drive.

The following link may help your situation, so give it a try making sure to follow the instructions very carefully.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/20864-mbr-restore-windows-7-master-boot-record.html

Thanks. Do you know of anywhere I could get my hands on one of those system repair disks? Perhaps link me to a working one. (I have downloaded a few non working ones to a point where I am nearly capped on my Internet.)

I can't find any links as apparently a few years back Microsoft slapped Google hard and told them to remove all links to downloading their software (even the recovery disc).

The only thing I can suggest is to find it on a torrent site (illegal) or else ask a friend to burn a system repair disc if you have the same version of Windows (probably illegal too, knowing Microsoft). If you go the torrent route, you'll need to find it in ISO form.

I'm probably going to have to state at this point that SevenForums does not endorse or condone torrenting Microsoft software and if you get caught, you'll be hung, drawn and quartered just like in medieval times. I dunno if it's just me, but that sounds kind of fun.

Remember afterwards to burn to an ISO using either Neosmart's guide:
Burning ISO Images with ImgBurn - Guides - NeoSmart Technologies Wiki

Or the SevenForums guide:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/548-burn-disc-image-iso-img-file.html

Mevious,

First: never download from a torrent site
2nd: never download from an illegal site.

I could keep going, but:

If you are looking for a system repair disc, then the solution is simple:

Go to a friend's computer who also has a 64 bit version of Win 7 installed.

On his computer:

CREATE A SYSTEM REPAIR DISC

START | type System Repair | Enter key | Create Disc button

============================================

With that out of the way:

One of the reasons we need is your system specs is: to recommend how to make a system repair disc for your system.

Two: So that we know whether you have a:
K55VD or K55VM or K55VS

You then google that model and choose the website that starts with:
support.asus.com/download

Once there you download the manual and read up on using your recovery partition.

In case you glossed over the tutorial for System Repair posted by Layback Bear, you can download a legal iso file to make a W7 install disc. It can also be used to do a System Repair. Burn (don't copy) the iso to a DVD.
Warning! It is a large download, about 3 gigs, don't get capped by your ISP.

Thanks guys, I'll try all of the suggested methods tonight and report how it goes. I tried the system repair disk but it didn't work. I got it off a mates computer and its make is Dell. I have been hearing rumors of Dell's computers not making good repair disks, so I'll try using another friends' one.

Hi again guys, I haven't been able to achieve anything due to finding somebody with Windows 7 and runs well is a pain. Lots of my friends run XP. Anyway, that's beside the point.

As with the laptop specs, I included them in the first post.

Asus K55VD
Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel Core i7 at 2.3Ghz with a turbo speed of 3.2Ghz
NVIDIA GeForce 610m
750Gb Hard Drive (Not sold state)
ODD: DVD Sup.MTI.

That's all the info I can gather.

Hey man, sorry for the double post on my iPhone it was glitching up and not editing.
So with the download file, I only have 1.5 gbs left because before my computer crashed I downloaded borderlands (12gb) and Skyrim (compressed to 4gb). I only have 20gbs, and I downloaded that 3gb Windows 7 installation file and so I am nearly capped.

SOLVED.

System repair disks didn't work. Nor did windows installation disks, as the windows disks wouldn't install on a hard drive of the GPT format.

SOLUTION:

1. I used a friends computer to make a disk of the MiniTool partition manager.

2. Using that partition manager, we deleted the entire content of my hard drive. We removed all partitions and everything, so it was just unallocated space.

3. Removed the partition manager disk, and inserted windows 7 home premium install disk. Using the product key on the bottom of my computer, we installed a fresh copy of Windows 7.

Thanks for all of the help guys. :)

Good to hear you fixed the problem!

Now that you have a clean installation, consider making a image of your system. An image will enable you to restore the computer's system, installed programs and data.
